Wendy Stevens
Hal Leonard has just published a new series of hymn arrangements called Easy Hymn Solos by Wendy Stevens. These books contain actual arrangements of hymns rather than just melodies and accompanying chords. The arrangements are interesting and mature sounding even at the elementary level and would be good for children or adults. Level 1 is elementary, Level 2 is late elementary, and Level 3 is intermediate. Each book contains ten solos of familiar hymn tunes such as Amazing Grace, Doxology, Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Be Thou My Vision, etc.

Easy Hymn Solos is available at Senseney Music. More information and reviews of the book can be found on Wendy's website, Susan Paradis' website, and Music Matters Blog.

Laura Vollen
It is with a great deal of excitement that Laura Vollen and her husband, Guy, announce that next May 16 (or thereabouts!), they will welcome a new baby into their family!

Back to the Future Festival Plans Shaping Up!
The WMMTA Festival Committee, spearheaded by Joanne Ehrlich, has been hard at working putting together the nuts and bolts for the 2010 festival - Back to the Future! They are pleased to announce that three members of the Wichita Piano Technician's Guild have joined the committee: Joe Wisner, Marty Hess, and Roy Howard. Mark your calendars now for March 6 and 7, 2010 at Wichita's lovely Botanica!

The festival will include student performances, presentations showcasing the many things the piano can do, experiences with early dances that inspired so much piano literature, and hands-on activities provided by the Piano Technician's Guild. Watch your inbox and the WMMTA website for all the latest information and entry forms!
