Music Progressions Resource Handbook Now Available!
After hours of work updating and re-compiling, the 2009 version of the Music Progressions Resource Handbook is now available! The Resource Handbook may be downloaded for free from the Music Progressions page of the KMTA website. If you would prefer to order a printed copy, please contact KMTA Secretary, Pat Ziegelmeier, as indicated on the KMTA website.

Special Note: Packets with printed copies of all the udpated materials will be available at Senseney Music through the end of December! You can pick up your packet there, sign for it, and then mail payment to Marlene Hallstrom. Thanks to Senseney for graciously allowing us to utilize their store in this way!

Back to the Future Festival Needs Committee Chairs
Plans for the Back to the Future Festival on March 6 and 7, 2010 are progressing very nicely! (Download the flyer from the WMMTA website.) The WMMTA Festival Committee is looking for several volunteers to serve as Committee Chairs for the festival:
Schedule Coordinator - handle student entry forms and organize according to scheduling requests.
Worker Coordinator - schedule and oversee the teachers who have volunteered to help in different areas the weekend of the festival.
Program Coordinator - design and print copies of the program, including sponsor and student information.
Equipment Coordinator - keep a list of needs for the performances and make arrangements for rental and moving of instruments.
Decorations Coordinator - purchase and set up decorations at the festival location.

Please contact Joanne Ehrlich (ancey7@cox.net) if you would like additional information or are willing to chair one of these committees. Watch for festival entry forms in the January WMMTA eNews and on the WMMTA website.

Mentor Luncheon Report
What does 6 WMMTA teachers + 6 SMTA teachers + a delicious box lunch =? A lively noon-time sharing of questions and answers by everyone + lots of fun! One student asked how to keep track of progress in our teaching, and this sharing and comparing of common problems and solutions was one affirming answer! Another answer to that question, the mentors were eager to agree, is Music Progressions.

The discussion ranged from marketing ideas, to reaching students of varying cultures, to new ideas learned from the Recreational Music Making concept. WMMTA members who shared their ideas (and were gratified to hear the eagerness of this next generation of teachers!) were Joanne Ehrlich, Megan Desmarais, Michal Rector, Sylvia Coats, Judith Fear, and Sally Buxton.

WMMTA Christmas Recitals
WMMTA teachers are invited to reserve a time slot to hold their studio Christmas recital in the beautiful DeMattias Performance Hall at Newman University. Time slots are available throughout the day (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) on Saturday, December 19, 2009. To reserve your spot, please contact Carole Pracht (prachtc@newmanu.edu).
