to the Future Festival Report - Joanne Ehrlich
The
Back to the Future Festival is this weekend! With well over 100 students
participating, we are looking forward to a grand time with lots of musical
performances and fun activities.

piano and clarinet ensemble performs "Merry Widow Waltz,"
an original arrangement by Sally Buxton

Students
gather to learn the steps of the minuet, instructed by Sylvia Coats

Parents,
teachers, and students enjoy exploring the fabulous display tables
provided by the Piano Technicians Guild

The
Back to the Future Suite, composed by Dr. Roy Howard for
the occasion, is a hit!

Bartolomeo
Cristofori (a.k.a. Marty Hess) blasts 300 years into the future
to tell us all about the piano, eagerly responding to questions
from our wonderful emcee, Joanne Ehrlich. Gorgeous background music
is provided by student of Christy Williams - Marie Williams.

Invitation
to Melissa Low's Workshop!
SMTA member, Melissa Low, will be presenting her graduate workshop
on Friday, April 9, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in Room B203 of Duerksen Fine
Arts Center at WSU. The workshop is titled, "Music Teaching in the
Culturally Diverse Postmodern Classroom: Cultural Awareness." It
would be great if we could support her as she concludes her time in school
and launches into teaching full-time!

Reed
You are invited to attend Paul Reed's solo piano
recital on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in Wiedemann Hall at WSU.
The recital will include works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Faure, and Griffes.

Tim Shook has been selected to be West Central Division Director-Elect.
The Director-Elect term is 2010-2012 and he will be Director from 2012-2014.

How
to Print the WMMTA eNews
If
you would like to print a hard copy of the WMMTA eNews, here are step-by-step
instructions for Windows users:
1. Open the
e-mail in your e-mail program.
2. Click
anywhere inside the body of the e-mail and then hold the Ctrl key on your
keyboard and press the "A" key. This will select "all."
3. Click
Ctrl and then the "C" key to copy everything that is selected.
4. Open a
word processing software (like Microsoft Word) and click Ctrl and then
the "P" key to paste the selection.
5. Adjust
formatting as desired and then print as you would any other document.
