WMMTA Year-End Social - New Beginnings!
All WMMTA members and their guests are invited to join us for an evening of reflection, inspiration, and refreshment! Since several of our members have welcomed new little ones into their families this year, we are focusing the evening on the theme of "New Beginnings." Come prepared to share new ideas you tried this year, new ideas you want to try next year, and with a pen and paper to write down all the new ideas you're sure to glean from everyone else!

The event will be held at the home of Natalie Wickham - 1101 N Briarwood in Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1. Please bring a finger food to share. Drinks and table service will be provided.

KMTA State Conference
If you haven't made plans yet to attend, be sure to check out the great conference program lined up for our annual KMTA state music teachers conference! The conference will begin with a concert on Thursday evening, June 10, and will run through the remainder of the weekend. The featured clinicians are Randall and Nancy Faber, authors of the acclaimed Piano Adventures method.

The Faber's will be presenting several workshops during the conference, and Randall will be giving a recital on Friday evening featuring the following works:

• Mozart : Sonata in B-flat Major
• Debussy : Pour le Piano
• Gershwin : Three Preludes
• Chopin : Etude in C Minor and Etude in F Minor
• Chopin : Berceuse
• Liszt : Mephisto Waltz

Nancy's work, The Snow Queen, will be performed in a special Community Children's Concert on Saturday late afternoon. Numerous other presenters will be giving workshops on a variety of topics throughout the weekend. You can view the complete schedule on the conference page of the KMTA website.

Early registration ends on May 15, so register now to receive the early bird price!

Wendy Stevens
Wendy Stevens' new book Returning to the Piano is a 96 page instructional book for adults that took lessons as a child and are returning to the piano! No longer will adults have to play "methody" or juvenile pieces since this book uses a great mix of popular music, folk songs, classical tunes, and original pieces to assist adults in learning to play the piano again. Some of the titles include: Amazing Grace • Eine Kleine Nachtmusik • Forrest Gump – Main Title (Feather Theme) • I Walk the Line • Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring • Let It Be • The Music of the Night • Stand by Me • and many more! The book comes with 2 MIDI enhanced CDs which include practice and performance tracks. This book is published by Hal Leonard and is available at Senseney Music.
