Welcome to the Wichita Metropolitan Music Teachers Association, affectionately referred to as WMMTA (pronunciation: wom-ta)! Wichita Metropolitan Music Teachers Association (WMMTA) is a professional music teachers organization located in Wichita, Kansas. Our membership is open to any music teacher residing in Wichita or any of the surrounding communities and currently includes teachers of piano, keyboard, violin, viola, voice, clarinet, saxophone, organ, guitar, flute, choral music, composition, theory, piano pedagogy, technology, computer lab and education. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, inviting group in which music teachers of all ages and with all levels of experience will feel at home and will be able to benefit from our services and activities. As an organization dedicated to providing its members with the best possible services, WMMTA is thrilled to utilize this website to supply its members with continually updated information about upcoming events and opportunities. In addition, this site will also allow us to provide our members with valuable resources. When: Friday, August 27, 2010 Time: 4:30-8:00 p.m. Where: Reformation Lutheran (7601 E 13th; between Rock Rd and Woodlawn) What: Natalie Wickham, NCTM, who is a bundle of energy and ideas, will be leading our main session, “Creative Collaboration: Making every lesson come alive!” You won’t want to miss her if you can possibly make it to this session! Whether you’re teaching an individual student or working with a group, you can make every lesson a rich and rewarding musical experience. In this fast-paced session Natalie will load you up with ideas to use in all sorts of scenarios: Fun with One, Friendly Duos, Family Favorites, and Groups Galore! Other sessions will include discovering the “Best of the Best” ideas from the KMTA Conference, ensembles to do with your students, a quick musical stretch to do with your students, and more! (To “sweeten” the end of the workshop, there will be a drawing for door prizes.) Please RESERVE your place for the Kick-off as soon as possible so we know how many handouts to prepare.
